So I told you that I’m busy, right? Planning a wedding in three and a half months while trying to enjoy being engaged and not explode because of wedding overload, living life, that kind of thing. Well, something else recently got added to the mix.
I got a new job last Friday afternoon, and it starts right around the corner. I’m pretty excited.

Librarianship is great. It’s full of interesting co-workers from a huge variety of backgrounds, both professionally and otherwise. It allows you to use bits and pieces of knowledge that you picked up randomly over the years and places them into one nice, neat professional realm. But I need a change. I need something a little bit messier.
And what’s messier than students’ lives, right? So I’m going to be an academic advisor at a nearby university. Like I said earlier, I’m pretty excited. It sounds like it’s going to use a lot of the technical skills I’ve learned in my computer services role while adding in some of the people contact that I’ve been missing.
I don’t know exactly what my days will look like yet. What I do know is that I won’t be a one-person department anymore, and I will spend a significant chunk of each day learning about other people’s goals and plans, both long-term and short-term. Those are big selling points for me. So yeah, that’s what’s going on right now. As the Fresh Prince once said, “Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down.”
Congratulations on your new job, and also your engagement!
