Random thought of the moment: I wanted a Volkswagen Beetle or a Jeep Wrangler when I turned 16.  Then after several very happy years of Jeep ownership, I reconsidered my old friend Volkswagen with better gas mileage in mind.  I have a Rabbit now, not a Beetle, but I do still like the design of the old Bugs.  They’re just fun (unless you’re really tall, in which case I imagine they wouldn’t be fun at all).
