As I made my grocery list today, I said a silent thank you the person who decided to sell tomato paste in a tube for the first time. For years, I bought tomato paste in small cans, and I regularly threw away 1/2 to 2/3 of each can, because you can only say, “just take the mold off the top and use the rest” so many times before it’s really gross. (For the record, once or twice per food item is my limit on that particular phrase.)

Then I heard that tomato paste also comes in tubes. With that one kernel of truth, I was rescued from gross moldy cans and waste. Yay!!! You should try it sometime. It’s slightly more expensive in a tube, but I think it’s less expensive if you factor in how much I used to throw away in the cans.
This week, I’m going to experiment with anchovy paste for the very first time. Thankfully, it comes in a tube, too. Even if it’s gross, at least I’ll enjoy the whole food-in-a-tube thing. Here goes nothing.
Oh, and the blog where I found that picture also shows you other options for avoiding the dreaded tomato paste waste. Check it out here, if you’re interested.
