Really the Best Meatballs

I tried a new-to-me recipe for traditional meatballs at the end of last week.  It shouldn’t have happened, but it did.  You see, our favorite recipe for meatballs is just so amazingly fantastic that we shouldn’t ever stray from it.  Ever.

But I wanted to make spaghetti and meatballs (or spaghetti squash and meatballs), and I didn’t want to buy any additional meat products, so I strayed.

The meatballs in question are perfectly adequate.  They taste like meatballs.  But they aren’t special.  Giada’s Traditional Italian Meatballs?  Now those are special!  I never thought I would say that about meatballs.  They’re pretty basic, right?

Not these meatballs.  I’m convinced that the perfection is in the meat combo–Italian sausage with ground turkey.  It manages to be a tiny bit healthy (the turkey) while being incredibly flavorful (the sausage).  Something about the texture is fluffier, too.  Om nom nom!

I hereby promise to be faithful to this meatball recipe in the future.  I’ll leave the ground beef for other endeavors.  I’ll also keep my fingers crossed that the rest of the week’s recipes fare better than the new meatballs.  Poor new meatballs.
